*edited the Title because people reblogged this post and I don’t anyone to think that I AGREE with the last part!
This alarmed me. My Mom died of Cancer (not Breast, but Cervical) but still. To say something like this is quite insensitive, whether it was done out of sarcasm or whatever. I sort of lost my logic after reading this.
Here’s what I think : Anything that leads to people dying in unnatural ways are of equal importance. People committing suicide because of bullying, People who succumb to Cancer, People in Car Accidents because of drinking/texting and driving, AND MUCH MORE… We shouldn’t stop spreading the word. Its always easy for most people to say “Enough spreading awareness of this, of that” - but wait until something like Cancer happens to your Family. IT WILL NEVER BE ENOUGH that even YOU would want to do something for others who is going through the same thing.
Don’t get me wrong, I fully support people behind Tumblr and their choice to support the Gay community today, as one of the things my Mother taught me was to respect people regardless of their race and gender. I don’t take it against them to not go with Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness, but for someone to point something out like this…its offensive. I was really offended, to be honest. People who suffer from Bullying go through a lot, especially if they’re being bullied for their gender, I can only imagine what that must be like and I feel for them. But the families who see their loved ones deteriorate in front of them, and can’t do anything about it, THAT’S HARD TOO.
I’m really appalled by this. Makes me want to punch the wall.
I know this sounds naive and immature, maybe even impossible. But you know what I think? UNTIL WE FIND A CURE TO CANCER, UNTIL THE BULLYING STOPS, UNTIL PEOPLE LEARN TO BECOME MORE RESPONSIBLE DRIVERS, ETC. - THEN IT WILL NEVER BE ENOUGH.
